Gundam Seed

Gundam Seed will surely blow you away.  It has never been better.  If you have not watched it yet, then let me give you its plot in a capsulized form.

Synopsis

It has been almost 11 months in the Cosmic Era 71 when the ruthless war between Earth Alliance and Zaft started.  Heliopolis, the non-alliance space-colony served as the battleground between the two opposing forces, each comprised of naturals and coordinators (improved humans).   The Earth Alliance has devised a plan in order to gain a better chance of winning against their rival.  They have designed and created 5 mobile suits known as Gundams.  These Gundams are equipped with the latest technology of warfare.  They are the very hope of the Earth Alliance in conquering the Zaft forces.   The war got worse and it caused the destruction of the Heliopolis colony.

It seems that the hands of time was not in the favor of the Earth Alliance, with the destruction of Heliopolis came also the destruction of the hope Earth Alliance was clinging to.  The 4 Gundams were now under the control of their enemies; only 1 was left to be used by them.  Amidst all these unfortunate events that came in the side of Earth Alliance, they will never surrender the hope they have.  The only 1 Gundam left in their hands was piloted by a coordinator living among the naturals.  Akira fought tirelessly together with his comrades against the Zaft forces and other Gundams.  He has to protect his friends and secure their safety.  He can never let them be harmed by the enemies.  In the story you will realize the struggles of both coordinators and naturals to protect their friends and families.  How war becomes the most meaningless tool to deprive us of peace and the lives of people we most love.

Review

It has been a long time since a true wonderful masterpiece was released by the Gundam franchise.  We can not deny that Gundam viewers have been deprived for quite a long time of stunning and stellar Gundam series.  Gundam seed has truly marked an era of a new promising series from the Gundam franchise.  Even the best alternate-universe Gundam series has not been able to equalize the worst program of the universal century era.  That is, until the advent of the Mobile Suit Gundam Seed.  Fans will now be truly excited for the first time ever (after being disappointed in other alternate-universe series) for this truly exceptional entry of Gundam’s alternate-universe.

As you start to watch the first episodes of Gundam Seed, you will realize that it is almost the same with that of the Mobile Suit Gundam.  A young boy in the name of Akira Yamato became an involuntary pilot when the colony he was living in was attacked.   The doctrine of warfare became a part of his destiny and he has been seen with a very promising potential of becoming one of the best pilots of his time.  The remaining part of the series is unique.  You will see strong characters with complicated personalities.  However, I really do not recommend this to be watched by children because of its complexities and other mature scenes.
