The Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh is arriving in New Delhi on Tuesday evening for talks with the Congress High Command. He has already offered to resign following the Mumbai terror attacks. Reports say that the discussions on the issue of successor to Mr Deshmukh will gain momentum after his arrival in the Capital. He will hold talks with Congress President Sonia Gandhi as well as senior leaders

Indian F M Mr. P Chidambaram was on Sunday appointed Home Minister after incumbent Mr.Shivraj Patil resigned owning moral responsibility for the Mumbai terror attacks. A Rashtrapati Bhawan communique announced the appointment of Mr.Chidambaram as Home Minister after acceptance of Mr.Patil's resignation. It said the Prime Minister will hold the additional charge of Finance.
